Pumba Private Game Reserve

Where the White Lion Roams Free.

A rare spirit. A wild home. An unforgettable safari.

Home to a self-sustained, free-roaming pride of white and tawny lions. The reserve's current dominant male is a white lion.

A rare presence in the wild

Meet the wild in its rarest light.

Pumba is home to the rare white lion. Here, a pride of tawny (golden) and white lions lives in a free-roaming, self-sustaining environment across the reserve's Eastern Cape bushveld.

Beyond the lions, Pumba is home to all five of the Big 5, along with hippo, hyena, cheetah, giraffe, various antelope and more than 300 bird species.

The bush is alive. The moment is yours.

Bushveld privacy or lake views?

Msenge Bush Lodge’s glass-enclosed chalets open into the bushveld. Water Lodge’s thatched chalets overlook Lake Cariega.

Both offer private decks, plunge pools, outdoor showers and fireplaces.

Planning inspiration, not a booking or availability check. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed. Rates, dates and group suitability must be confirmed with Pumba.

Conservation & community

A wilderness that gives back.

Since opening in 2004, Pumba has been more than an eco-tourism business. As one of the main employers of the Seven Fountains area, the reserve is committed to responsible tourism, conservation, education, community and social upliftment.

Conservation Ethos

Working alongside the government-funded Working for Water programme to clear alien vegetation and help return the land to its natural state.

The Pumba Foundation

Funded through donations, with all funds directed to conservation initiatives and projects identified by the local community.
